Increase Chimney Life and Gutter Repairs Cost at JJ Roofing

People often think that installing chimneys and gutters is the best thing to do for their house. But they forget that improper maintenance of gutters and chimneys can lead to many internal and external problems for the house.

It is important to clean the debris and dust particles collected in the chimney as well the gutter to prevent blockages and stinking. Given below is brief information on how to maintain them:

Clean your chimneys once a year

The repairing and cleaning of chimneys should be performed at least once a year as the collection of dust makes it difficult for smoke to escape. The clogged chimney can hence result in a fire.

It is preferred that individuals hire a licensed company to inspect the chimneys and clean them. They inspect the chimney and work on it accordingly. This solves the minutest of problems before they start incurring big repair bills. To clean and maintain your chimney regularly without hiring professionals you can use a brush, a flashlight, cover for the fireplace, a shovel and a bucket to collect the ashes.

Gutters need maintenance twice a year

Clogs are the main problem of gutters. If clogging is found in gutters, check the underground tiling system and clean the downspout. It is preferred to use a plumber's snake to clean any debris and moisture in gutters.
If the gutters stink and blockages are found after cleaning them, hire professionals to maintain them.
