Roof maintenance – How can you take care of your roof?
Roofing repair can be an expensive task. You can however keep repairs to a minimum by keeping a constant check on the condition of your roof. Given below are some roofing maintenance tips you can use:
Tree limbs
Make sure that tree limbs do not come too close to your roof. Tree limbs can damage your roof and their leaves can clog gutters. Cut off tree limbs from time to time if they get too close to your house.
Black streaks
Check if there are any black streaks on your roof. Black streaks are an indication that fungus and mold is growing on your roofing tiles. It is recommended that you get rid of mold and algae as it can damage your tiles beyond repair. This can also lead to roof leaks in the future.
Attic space
Your attic space should always be well ventilated. This is necessary to prevent the onset of moisture which can cause significant damage to your roof. Checking in your attic once in a while will also let you see if you have any new leaks.
Look for missing tiles
Inspect the roof regularly for missing tiles. Replace the broken or missing tiles immediately before the onset of a leak.
Last but not the least, clean out your roof gutters regularly and get rid of debris such as leaves.
