Roofing materials choose wisely

The roof on our home takes plenty of beating from the rain, sun, wind and snow. This is why selecting a durable roofing material is important. Tile and asphalt are some of the most common types of roofing materials available today. They come in different materials, styles and colours, thus allowing you to choose a type that best suits your needs.

Asphalt roofing materials

Asphalt is used for making both fibreglass and paper shingles that are durable and weatherproof. To make asphalt shingles more resistant to the effects of heat and sunlight, they are often coated with ceramic granules. When installing asphalt roofing, proper sealing is very important. If there are any nail holes or gaps in the sealing process the roof will leak.

Tile roofing material

Tiles are another popular roofing material which can be made from slate, concrete or clay. These types of roofs are often high quality and found on traditional homes. Tile roofing materials are available in different styles, colours and patterns. Traditional roofing materials like slate can look beautiful on any home but may be a little more expensive than concrete tiles

Prior to selecting a roofing material, ensure that you evaluate the level of durability and the cost of installation. Ideally, a good roofing material must be reasonably priced and durable. To ensure that your roof is properly installed using a professional roofing contractor is a wise decision.
