The shingle can be easily applied to most roofs, although there are different laying methods depending on whether the roof pitch is shallow or steep. For roofs between 15 and 45 degrees, a shingle underlay is required to maximise its waterproofing properties.  For roofs steeper than 45 degrees, no underlay is required. Instead, Maple Leaf Royal Hexagonal Shingle can be applied directly onto the roof structure.

To further ensure that the waterproof properties of the shingle are maximised, the installation process is facilitated by a ‘tab and groove’ location system. The location system makes it easier to achieve the correct layering of the shingle strips and ensures that your roof isn’t susceptible to damp.

The composition of the materials that make up the layering in the Maple Leaf Royal Hexagonal Shingle make the properties incredibly durable, water resistant and weatherproof. The bottom layer consists of heavy weight glass fibre. On top of the fibre glass is a layer of oxidised bitumen. The upper layer is coated in coloured mineral granules, which give the shingle its unique colouring. To finish, the shingle is given a UV resistant coating to prevent the colour from fading.
